Review of the 65th Austrian Congress of Surgery 2024

The 65th Congress of the Austrian Society for Surgery, held from June 5th to 7th, 2024 in Salzburg, was centered around the theme of “Surgery and Management.” This year, we particularly focused on how effective surgical management can improve patient care and foster innovation. Stephan Kriwanek highlighted in his opening speech the importance of constant innovations and the challenges of cost management.

Our team also received several awards for their outstanding research work:

  • Poster Prize: 1st place for Patrick Kirchweger, 2nd place for Lorenz Danhel, and 3rd place for Antonia Fritz.
  • Young Surgeons Forum (YSF) Award: 1st place for Patrick Kirchweger with his presentation on circulating tumor DNA.
